TheScoupe Mk2 was Hyundai's first attempt
at sports cars and had the first South Korea's domestically designed enginewith a cast-iron block and crankshaft.
The engine has an aluminum head, aluminum pistons and steel connecting rods.
A special compact pentroof combustion chamber design with central spark plug location was incorporated to optimize engine efficiency.
The engine uses a Bosch electronic engine control system much alike
the one used in Fiat Punto GT.
